TGIF which means it’s time for Friday Favorites!
Today is the first official day of fall! And it’s supposed to be in the 80’s here in Southern California but the mornings are in the low 60’s so I get a little taste of fall temps on my morning runs! 🙂
Only a few more weeks of big high running miles with 42 days left until race day! Today was an easy 12 miles . . . I say it like that’s no big deal after last weeks 20 miler but it still felt like a long way this morning!
The countdown is on . . . .
Onto my five favorites for this week!
The best socks!! I love them for running and/or working out and their no-show socks are perfect for everyday! I just ordered up a couple of new pairs to break in for marathon race day! These socks cushion my feet nicely, I have never gotten a blister on long runs while wearing them and the best part they don’t fall down or move – they are a non-issue which is just what you want in a sock. You don’t want to ever think about them. Yes, they are pricey for socks but I’ve tried other socks and I always come back to Bombas – if my feet are happy then the price to me is so worth it. 🙂
Now here’s the best part . . . socks are the #1 most requested clothing item at homeless shelters so for every pair of Bombas you purchase, they donate a pair to someone in need. It’s a win-win!
double hooded sweatshirt
These are the softest, coziest and I might add the cutest sweatshirts I own! I bought my first one last winter (navy and magenta combo) and loved it and just got a new one in black. They look great with leggings, skinny jeans and my running shorts and they are a fun twist on the typical sweatshirt! They are from Mindy Mae’s Market and there are so many color combos and patterns to choose from!
Now here’s the best part (sound familiar, right) . . . from now thru October 17 for every hoodie you purchase, they will donate a double hooded sweatshirt to a woman in need! Another win-win!!
Here are some of my favorites – just click on a photo for more info.
new podcasts I’ve recently discovered
I have become a huge podcast listener while I am out on a run. It’s a great way to pass the time on a long run and I also find myself listening in the car or sometimes I put my headphones on while I’m folding laundry or cooking to finish up an episode. There are so many podcasts out there about all sorts of topics that it can be overwhelming so I rely on recommendations. I just started to listen to these two over the last couple of weeks.
The Satellite Sisters . . . five sisters talking about current affairs, their lives, books, tv and more. Love!
The Daily . . . a quick 20-25 min podcast from the New York Times on a specific hot topic of the day. I feel a little more educated after listening.
Pumpkin spice granola bark
OMG, this is amazing!!! I was trying to hold off until October for what I call the “pumpkin goodness” but then I saw this in Trader Joe’s and well the rest is history. Pumpkin spice flavor granola covered with 66% cacao dark chocolate with toasted pumpkin seeds – gluten-free and each bar is only 150 calories. YUM
Next week I am going to share all my favorite pumpkin favorites because there are a lot of pumpkin products out there but if you want a little taste of fall and pumpkin this weekend check out this pumpkin bread recipe . . . it is the bomb!!
amazon prime original series, Jack ryan
If you are looking for a show to binge this weekend or just a great new series to follow . . . Jack Ryan is it! I am actually a little surprised at much I am enjoying this show. I had heard great things about this series so I was curious to check it out. It stars John Krasinski as Jack Ryan and really who doesn’t love “Jim” from the office! And I really enjoyed Tom Clancy novels and movies (Hunter for Red October, Clear and Present Danger) so I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised that I like it so much. The TV series follows Jack Ryan pre the Harrison Ford Jack Ryan – it’s Jack Ryan the early year and it is totally worth you checking out.
Any plans for the weekend? We are going to a comedy club tonight with friends which will be super fun and it’s the weekend so we’ve got soccer games to spectate. Enjoy your weekend with family and friends and take a little time for you. 🙂
