Football season officially kicks off today (ok, for your Kansas City and New England fans it kicked off a few days ago), my question is – is that a good thing? Are you a football fan or do you dread football sundays or maybe you don’t care one way or another?
I am a football fan. Actually I am a huge NY Giant fan! Sunday’s during football season is about family, food and the NY Giants. I’m making sausage and peppers tonight as we settle in for the first game of the season. Click here for recipe.
I was born into a family that bleeds blue during football season! Season tickets have been in my family since 1955 and I learned the game of football from my dad early on in life.
Being a NY Giant fan is a family affair. It’s one of those shared experiences that bonds us as a family no matter the distance. We have weekly family game texts, our kids are Giant fans and yes, I have many game day rituals that my family and friends find entertaining. If it’s a close game (which most are) I clean the house. I mean like really clean – I’ve been known to even dust the floor boards.
I love being able to enjoy the game with my family but I also love being able to talk football with anyone. Knowing the game makes it so much more fun, check out this quick read on everything you need to know, “Get Your Own Damn Beer, I’m Watching the Game!: A Woman’s Guide to Loving Pro Football” by Holly Peete who’s husband was a quarterback in the NFL.
If your husband is watching why not join him and you might even impress him with what you know . . . it can sort of be like a date night!
So are you a fan? What team?
