Yesterday on my Instagram and Facebook I shared a picture of me in one of my favorite pair of flats. The temperature was cooler and it was feeling a little like fall but not quite boot weather (thank goodness) so I happily opted for flats instead of sandals.
I’m not particularly tall, just a little above average at 5’6″ but I am conscious of my height when I wear heels. Maybe it goes back to high school where all the boys I had crushes on seemed to be shorter or the same height as me. Funny I married a man that is 6’2″ and loves me in heels but I still opt for flats the majority of the time and like that he towers over me.
Flats didn’t use to be cute and if you did find a cute pair comfort was a whole other issue. Wearing them for more than a few hours surprisingly never felt very good and doing any kind of serious walking was not recommended. But now there are so many cute styles, colors, and prints . . . pointy toe, lace up, ballet style, leopard print, nudes, suede . . . the options are endless. And the comfort factor exists with the cute factor.
I definitely have a bias toward neutral colored flats and it has my thinking I need to get a pop of color in my shoes this fall. Here are some of my favorites as we head into the fall weather. Living in Southern California we still wear boots in the winter which has always seemed funny to me – boots in 65-degree weather! But the beauty of flats is we really can wear them the entire year!
These lace up flats I bought last spring at Target!! I love that they are suede so they are perfect for fall and winter and the pointed toe makes them feel more dressed up! I couldn’t decide between the nude or black so I had to treat myself to both which is doable when it’s Target! Oh, how I love Target!
I like wearing lace up flats with a frayed edge hem or I cuff the bottom so the length falls at the ankle . . . you want to see the lace up!

I love the neutral family and I would add gold into that category. These little ballet flats are from Old Navy and I even wore them earlier this week with a little dress. Super comfortable and let’s face it ballet flats are great with anything! This style comes in black as well.

These pointy flats by Sam Edelman give the illusion of heels. I actually have the same pair in heels! Like I said I love neutral colors and I tend to wear these when I am a little bit more business casual. They look great with dark skinny jeans and button down or t-shirt with a blazer or long cardigan. And of course, I love the tan with white.
