My Sunday morning did not turn out to be that lazy, coffee drinking, reading the newspaper kind of Sunday morning! Oh no . . . it turned out way different! But more on that later.
I made a super simple appetizer to take to a birthday party this weekend. It was by far the simplest, no fail dip type dish you can make and is loved by everyone. It’s also a great side dish with grilled chicken or fish!
It’s just 3 ingredients all from Trader Joes!
- 1 package Steamed Lentils
- 1 container of crumbled feta cheese
- 1 container of Bruschetta Sauce
Mix all the ingredients together. Serve with pita chips, tortilla chips or whole grain crackers.
Now back to my unexpected Sunday morning!
So this was how our Sunday morning began! Yup, one of our teenagers left the water running in the bathroom sink all night. So it was a morning of moving furniture, drying things and cleaning up. It was also a morning of life lessons learned by our teenager!
Sure we were mad, we could have yelled and screamed but really what would have that accomplished. It was an unfortunate accident and no one is hurt. As my husband said, it’s drywall, it’s inconvenient and messy but it’s fixable. Maybe we have mellowed as parents or maybe we realize with all that is going on in this crazy world this is not that bad. Sure it is inconvenient. And opening our family room ceiling and redoing drywall is most certainly very messy. And there is a cost for the repairs which isn’t cheap!

But there is always an upside. The televisions still work! The boy’s bathroom is now clutter-free and organized. We can get rid of the area rug in our family that was completely faded. And I heard multiple “I love you, dad” said throughout the day as our teenage son was more than a little worried. We hope this is a lesson for him to be more aware of his surroundings and a reminder for all of us that what’s truly important is the people, not the things.
And we went through our house being remodeled a year ago so thank goodness we have a great contractor. Right now our family room looks like a hazmat site but by the end of the week, it will all be put back together or so we hope!
And hey we have another funny family story that we can all laugh about in the future.
