Today, I am struggling to find the motivation to workout! I typically workout first thing in the morning after an early morning cup of coffee but this morning I had to unexpectedly drive my youngest to school which threw me off my early morning workout. No worries, I thought I would just get it done at lunchtime but as the morning wore on my energy levels and my motivation lagged and I pushed off that lunchtime workout for later this afternoon. Well, later has arrived and I have decided today is a rest day . . . my body and mind are tired, I had a super active weekend and after 7 days of working out, it was time I listened to my body and did nothing today!
I find it hard to do nothing but I also know that nothing can recharge both my body and mind. That rest days can help prevent injuries and help my muscles build back up. So my fitness circles on my Apple Watch won’t close today and that’s okay. Whatever your fitness routine one or two rest days a week are a necessity.
So today I bring you some of my new favorite workout wear for warmer weather and I thought I would share a little bit of my fitness plan and goals in the coming months in hopes of motivating you as well.
After months of training for a marathon I’ve spent the last few weeks just having fun doing some light runs, and a few Beachbody workouts a few days a week. But I am finally ready to get more of a plan moving forward . . . I do better with goals! My next big goal is the NYC Marathon but my training for that doesn’t start until June so over the next 6 weeks, my plan is to sign up for a couple of 5K or 10K races, incorporate 2 strength training Beachbody workouts (21 Day Fix Extreme or Hammer & Chisel) into my week and add a day of speed training to go along with my running. The variety will be good for body and mind plus it always feels good to have a plan! 🙂
And with the weather getting warmer it’s time change up my workout wear and let’s face it adding in some new pieces always helps motivate one to go stronger, harder and faster! 🙂 With cute workout wear, you positively affect your performance!

I also downloaded the book Train Like a Mother by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Shea and I am looking at approaching my next marathon a little different. This is a great book for any mom running any distance at any level . . . funny and informative!
