I believe all movement is good movement but moving in quiet can feel long and lonely.
Music can be a great way to pass the time but have you tried listening to podcasts?
OMG, do you know how many different podcasts are out there? A ton.
What I love about podcasts is the variety and depending on your mood you could laugh your way through your walk, learn something new, or be intrigued by a fascinating story.
I get asked all the time what some of my go to or favorite podcasts are so here’s a few I love:
Katie Couric’s podcast is one of my favorites. She interviews some of the biggest names in news, politics and popular culture and the interviews are insightful, funny and unexpected. Some of my favorites have been Sheryl Sandberg, Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa), Julie Louis Dreyfus and Alec Baldwin. There are all great.
Serial. No list would be complete without the inclusion of this chart-topping, award-winning series, hosted by “This American Life” producer Sarah Koenig. This was my very first podcast” and I was hooked with the first season which follows the 1999 murder of a Baltimore teen. Sara Koenig narrates with such curiosity and reliability . . . I was hooked from the start. Each episode builds on the last one, so listen in order.
How I Built This are fascinating stories on how things came to be – Rent the Runway, the DryBar, Spanx, We Work, Five Guy and so much more. Guy Raz, interviews the founders of some of the best known companies and brands. You hear their triumphs, failures and insights.
“You get a car, you get a car, you get a car!!!” One of my all the time favorites and probably because I love Oprah is a podcast called the Making Oprah. It’s just 3 episodes and each episode covers a 10 year period from Oprah’s start in TV to the last season of the Oprah show. I felt like I was hearing all the behind the scenes!
And a new one for me I am just starting is called, Happier with Gretchen Rubin and her sister. Gretchen wrote the Happiness Project which was a NY Times bestseller and is the story of her quest for a year to live and find happiness in her life. I am already hooked on the first one I started that’s titled “Do 10 jumping jacks, and Easy Ways To Stay Off Your Device . . . “
Now you should have no excuses to not get moving and stay moving. Just download the podcast app on your phone, and start listening! You will be amazed at how much distance you will cover while being throughly entertained.
And podcasts are great to listen to while driving, folding laundry, cleaning house or cooking! Happy listening!
I am always looking for new podcasts so comment with any of your favorites!
